The Guitars 4 Schools Program was established in conjunction with
Music. Play for Life the national initiative for the
Music Council of Australia, the Australian Music Association and the Australian Society for Music Education. The contribution
of The Fall in Light Foundation Inc. has enabled the establishment of the “Guitars for Schools” program. The program puts guitars into
the hands of students during the middle years of schooling, as an encouragement to expand on their music-making. It means students
can build on their school music lessons with extra practise at home, on their own instrument. That makes all the difference. Funds
raised at our annual Jeff Buckley tribute are allocated to the Guitars 4 Schools Program and the FiL Foundation music events.
Achievements - The first Fall in Light Buckley tribute held in 2004 launched
the pilot program with a contribution of 4 guitars.
2005 saw “Fall in Light” achieve a staggering growth of 57 guitars!!
Schools Involved - Current schools involved with the program include: Thomastown Secondary College * Grovedale
College (Geelong) * Melton SC * Nth Geelong SC * Portland SC * Preston Girls SC * Kurnai College * Cheltenham SC * Keilor Downs SC.
